No Extra Credit

Why Smart Leaders Don't Reinvent the Wheel

You don't get extra credit for figuring it out yourself.

Every day, business owners and leaders spend time, money, and energy trying to solve problems somebody else has already figured out.

Different industries. Different companies. Same challenges.

Coming Soon

Your Business Isn't That Special.

And That's Good News.

Nobody likes hearing that their business isn't unique.

But think about the upside.

Somewhere, another leader has already dealt with the employee who won't take feedback, the dashboard full of meaningless metrics, the customer who doesn't see your value, or the initiative that never seems to get off the ground.

The answer might come from a company in your industry.

Or it might come from a completely different business you'd never think to study.

The point isn't to copy somebody else's playbook blindly. It's to recognize what works, understand why it works, and make it your own.

That's what this book is about.

What You'll Take Away

01

Ask Better Questions

Solve the actual problem, not just the most obvious symptom.

02

Challenge Assumptions

Just because you've always done it that way doesn't mean it's working.

03

Learn Across Industries

Some of the best ideas for your business may come from somewhere you'd never think to look.

04

Build Stronger Teams

Stop searching for unicorns. Start creating the conditions for good people to succeed.

05

Measure What Matters

A beautiful dashboard doesn't mean you're making progress. Focus on outcomes.

06

Turn Ideas Into Action

Knowing what to do doesn't mean much if nothing actually changes.

Who This Book Is For

Business owners, CEOs, managers, and leaders who are tired of solving the same problems the hard way.

  • Have a lot on their plates and don't have time for another complicated management theory.
  • Suspect there's a better way to do things but aren't sure where to look.
  • Want to build teams that can solve problems without everything running through them.
  • Are willing to question their own assumptions.
  • Prefer practical ideas they can actually use over business jargon.

You won't find a magic formula here.

You'll find lessons, examples, and questions that might change the way you look at your business.

And maybe save you from making a few mistakes somebody else already made.

Less Theory.

Practical ideas you can actually use.

More Results.

Better questions, stronger teams, and smarter decisions.

MEET THE AUTHOR

John Healy

After more than 25 years working across industries, I've learned something: most business problems aren't nearly as unique as we think they are.

John Healy has spent more than 25 years in sales, leadership, and business operations, working with organizations ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies.

As the founder of ApexBlend Consulting, he works with business owners and leadership teams to identify what's getting in the way of performance, challenge conventional thinking, and turn good ideas into practical action.

Along the way, he's noticed something interesting: companies in completely different industries often struggle with remarkably similar challenges. Yet leaders continue spending time and money trying to solve problems that somebody else has already figured out.

No Extra Credit grew out of that observation. It's a collection of practical lessons, stories, and occasionally uncomfortable questions about leadership, decision-making, and getting better results.

Because sometimes the smartest thing a leader can do is admit that somebody else might already have a better answer.

Put the Ideas to Work

Reading about better leadership is one thing. Doing something differently on Monday morning is another.

The No Extra Credit Reader Toolkit includes practical exercises to help you apply the ideas to your business.
